At Crystal Clear we think mums are the hardest working people in the world (lots of us are mums so we know!). You don’t get time off and no matter what you’re doing, you spend 99% of your time thinking about them. So having one day a year (Sunday 26th March this year, put it in your diaries!) when we all say a huge ‘Thank You’ to our mums is really important, especially in the beauty industry, because some proper, pampering me-time is definitely a treat every mum could use more of. Especially as this year the clocks spring forwards on Mother’s Day, so we only get 23 hours to celebrate. Typical!
Thinking ahead and helping your clients prepare for Mother’s Day is a must if you want to take advantage of this busy time, so here are our top tips for a successful Mother’s Day in your salon:
- Advertise the Date!
You would be surprised how many people don’t know when Mother’s Day is, and so won’t think about a gift until the last minute. Make sure your therapists are telling clients the date and asking if they have got their mum anything yet. This is a great way to open a conversation about the treatments and retail products you’re offering.
- Make Mums Feel Extra Special
This may be one of the only times all year when some mums get to escape to a salon or spa, so make sure they remember yours. They may have been given a gift voucher, or had their Crystal Clear treatment booked for them, so it’s a great chance to show new clients how fantastic your salon and customer service are! If you can, have a glass of something fizzy ready for anybody booked in on a Mother’s Day package or treatment (you can always ask at the time of booking and make a note with the appointment) or if you really want to push the boat out, make a simple Mother’s Day cocktail (and mocktail for expectant mums), to help them relax and get into the spirit of being pampered. Having some nice chocolates, fancy biscuits, a selection of teas and proper filter coffee wouldn’t hurt either. Let’s face it, it’s not often mums get to drink a hot drink while it’s still hot!
- Accommodate Younger Guests
Lots of mums with younger children would love to spend an afternoon at your spa, but couldn’t justify the time spent on themselves, without their tiny tot, or don’t have anybody to babysit. Instead of losing out on all of these mamas who want to visit, think about some ‘Mum & Me’ treatments which include their little one. Try a mini mani, with fun nail art and a simple hand massage using Velvet Skin, a kid friendly Crystal Clear Hands on Facial using Soothing Cleansing Gel, gentle moisturiser Skin Repair Serum and a few spritzes of Revitalising Tonic to finish. Maybe bring in some colouring books and crayons to keep little hands entertained in case mums treatment takes a bit longer.
- Maximise Retail Opportunities
You don’t need us to tell you that the run up to Mother’s Day a busy time for gift buying! Mums very rarely put themselves first and buy as much as they’d like the luxury beauty brands they love, like Crystal Clear. So tidy all retail displays and focus space on Mother’s Day gift essentials. Make sure you’re stocked up on our best sellers like Lift Away the Years and gift sets, as well as new products they might not have tried yet like Rewind10 and Beach Glow Tan drops. Lastly, make sure clients aren’t overwhelmed with choice, by training therapists on which of your Mother’s Day gift are best suited to who.
There is also an opportunity for retailing to clients who come in for a Crystal Clear treatment which has been gifted to them for Mother’s Day. Let them know which products you’re using, and that they’re available for purchase.
