I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year and 2016 is treating you well. If you’re anything like me, you’ll be trying to get back into positive exercise and skincare routines again now the New Year has begun.
I know it’s not easy after the indulgence of the festive months and we always get bombarded at this time of year – about how blue everyone is feeling and January is full of what we should have given up and stopped. But I don’t believe in feeling blue and stopping things – rather concentrating on the things we love and make us feel happy.
So why not make this the time of year to concentrate on your skincare routine? I know most people think skincare just means your face but you’ll probably still be feeling the effects of all the indulging over Christmas on your body as well as the winter weather too – so treat yourself all over.
Treat Yourself Inside Out
First of all, think of your skin as a blank canvas. You need to prepare that canvas as best you can from the inside before you will notice the goodness on the outside too. Whatever skincare routine you undertake it’s essential that you follow a healthy eating plan (and maybe even a detox if you choose) in order to maximise the results.
Get fresh foods into your body. The more you make and prepare yourself the better they’ll be for you. Cut out unhealthy snacks – instead treat yourself to foods which are full of healthy fats, vitamins and fibre, like nuts and fruit, including brazil nuts, walnuts, almonds and sultanas to graze on through the day and you get the double benefit of cutting out the bad foods and these super foods adding to your nutrition.
Hydrate – everyone says it but not many do it. Drink as much water as you can throughout the day and you’ll certainly notice the difference to how you feel, as well as an improvement in your complexion and the glow in your skin.
Body brushing daily with a natural fibre brush to help exfoliate and stimulate blood flow and shift toxins is a great habit to start. This will help keep your skin smooth and stop the build up of dead skin cells which will aid better penetration of any products you apply later.
It will also improve your blood circulation which, in turn, stimulates the lymphatic drainage system. This helps flush away any toxins and water retention (both of which are contributing factors to cellulite).
I get a lot of questions about cellulite at this time of year and it’s a great time to think about how to counter it. Body brushing is a really quick, inexpensive and effective way of attaining smoother skin.
Products & Treatments
If you want to go a bit further then think about the products you are using on your body. Adding active ingredients into your routine will further increase hydration, improve the appearance of skin and how smooth it is. Our body products, Crystal Body Polish, Body Firm Complex and Velvet Skin all contain active ingredients including Caffeine to reduce water retention, Peptides and Bio Peptides to stimulate collagen production, and Ruby Extract to stimulate microcirculation giving a healthy glow. I might be a bit biased but when it comes to brightening up your body I highly recommend Crystal Body Polish. People rave about our Body Firm Complex at this time of year too and Velvet Skin is a gorgeous home care product to make you feel loved again.
But if you fancy a real pamper, why not let the professionals do it, and book yourself in for a salon treatment. Our Microdermabrasion and Body Firming treatments will kickstart your new skincare routine and leave you feeling rejuvenated form head to toe. You can find your local Crystal Clear Salon here.
Most of all have as a happy January as you had December and the New Year. Why not?BACK TO NEWS
